Memorial Day

Memorial Day has always been a very important day for my family. This is partly because both of my parents have dedicated a huge portion of their lives to helping families who have lost their loved ones create an everlasting memorial in dedication of thier life.

I am extremely saddened at how society has changed this holiday into something that represents the “official beginning of summer” or a “three day weekend” because for many of us it is so much more than that…. It is a somber day to remember our loved ones who have passed away and a celebratory day to celebrate their lives.

I spent my Memorial Day in my hometown with my parents visiting and cleaning the markers of our loved ones and filling them in on my life.
(Yes, I do believe that they are listening…..)

My Uncle Ernie.....
He served two tours in Vietnam and was killed when he returned home. Although I have never met him, I know that he meant the world to my Father and he will forever hold a place in all of our hearts.

And a Dear Friend Lost Much to Soon.....

I also took a moment of silence to remember all of the military service men who have served this amazing country. I prayed for the families of those soldiers who have been killed or are missing in action that they would find peace and comfort in the Lord and that they would depend on Him for guidance. I also prayed that they would know that we will never forget the sacrifice of their soldier….
